The Gearhead Tourist site is meant to be a resource for automotive enthusiasts who want to participate in events, work on their cars, and head out to spectate at races, swap meets, car shows, and other such happenings. We also welcome articles and features from other gearheads who have something cool going on or tips about "bucket list" events that you can enjoy.

Who is the tourist?

What is the gearhead tourist all about?

The Gearhead Tourist is John Lindsey, a lifelong gearhead and motorsports enthusiast. John began his obsession at an early age when the only thing that would quiet his cries as an infant was a quick spin around the block in either a 1965 Impala SS or the family's other car a 1968 VW Beetle named "Herbie". John spent most of his youth drawing cars, dreaming about cars, and finally working on cars when his Dad gave him a 1974 Datsun 710 that had been sitting in a field for many years. From that first project ("The Cockroach That Ate Detroit") to his latest projects, John has had an insatiable craving for all things automotive. John served as the National Auto Sport Association's Chief Divisional Director from 2001-2013 and currently is a member of the Board of Directors and is General Counsel for NASA. John also has been the voice of the webcast and TV broadcasts of the NASA Championships presented by Toyo Tires since 2009. John is available to write articles about your events, serve as a master of ceremonies, or help with all sorts of live and recorded motorsports and automotive broadcast work.
